Supported file types and workflow limits

Use this page as a quick reference

Upload files to a request explains how to add evidence and what happens after upload. This page focuses on formats, workflow fit, and the limits that matter when you choose where to work.

The file picker shown in the selected workflow is the final source of truth because support can vary as an individual tool is updated.

Supported uploads

• Documents and text: PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT, and PPTX. The dashboard project uploader also accepts TXT and MD files.
• Images: JPG, JPEG, and PNG.
• Spreadsheets: XLS, XLSX, and CSV.
• Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, and FLAC. The dashboard uploader also accepts OGG.
• Video: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WEBM, FLV, WMV, M4V, 3GP, 3GPP, MPEG, and MPG.
• Online video: public or otherwise accessible YouTube links, subject to the video's access and embedding permissions. See Add a YouTube video.

Choose the right workflow

• Quick Agent Chat attachments: best for a small, one-off request. The quick path allows up to 15 MB per file, 50 MB combined, and 20 attachments.
• Projects: best for larger files, collections of evidence, spreadsheets, media, or work you will revisit. Pelayar may create a private project automatically when a request needs project processing. See Create and manage projects.
• Video Analysis and Sports Analysis: use these dedicated workflows when the video is the main subject and you need focused event, technique, tactical, or sports findings. Keep an uploaded video below approximately 1.9 GB when practical, and follow the size and duration limits shown by the selected workflow. Open Video Analysis or Sports Analysis.
• Transcription: use the dedicated workflow when the transcript is the main result or you need speaker identification, diarization, timestamps, or Reviewed quality. Open Transcription.

What each input is prepared for

• Documents and images: searchable text or visual evidence that can support summaries, comparisons, and citations.
• Spreadsheets: structured tables for calculations, comparisons, summaries, and generated workbooks.
• Audio: searchable transcript evidence with timestamps; use Transcription for advanced speaker-aware work.
• Video: project evidence for summaries and follow-up questions, or focused timestamped analysis in Video Analysis or Sports Analysis.

If a file is rejected

1. Confirm that the extension appears in the selected workflow's file picker.
2. Make sure the file opens normally, is not empty, damaged, or password-protected.
3. Move larger or numerous files into a project instead of a quick attachment.
4. For video, try an authorized MP4 copy and check the workflow's duration and size limits.
5. For YouTube, confirm that the requesting user can watch the video and that embedding is allowed.
6. If the problem continues, contact support with the filename, format, size, workflow, and exact error.
