Add a YouTube video

Add the video

1. Select the YouTube icon in the dashboard composer.
2. Paste the YouTube link, or choose a link that is already shown in the composer.
3. Confirm that the video appears as an attachment with its title or thumbnail.
4. Ask for the analysis, summary, comparison, transcript, or evidence you need.

What a YouTube link needs

Pelayar can only prepare a YouTube source when the video is available to the requesting user and YouTube allows the source to be played or embedded. The person who uploaded the video controls many of these permissions.

• The video must still exist and be accessible to the user who is making the request.
• Private videos cannot be used unless the relevant account access is available to the workflow.
• Unlisted videos may work when the link is valid and accessible, but a link alone does not override the owner's permissions.
• The uploader must allow embedding in YouTube Studio. If embedding is disabled, the video may work on youtube.com but show “Video unavailable” inside Pelayar.
• Age, region, copyright, sign-in, or other YouTube restrictions can prevent the browser player or the analysis service from loading the source.

If the video does not appear in Pelayar

1. Open the same link directly on YouTube and confirm that it plays for the account and region you are using.
2. If YouTube cannot play it, ask the uploader to change the video's visibility or access settings, or to enable Allow embedding.
3. If it plays directly but not in the Pelayar browser, the uploader may have disabled embedding or YouTube may be applying an age, region, copyright, or sign-in restriction.
4. If you control the footage, enable embedding in YouTube Studio and try the link again after saving the change.
5. If the owner cannot change the permission, download or export a copy you are authorized to use and upload the video file directly.

After the link is accepted

Pelayar stores the YouTube source as project evidence and prepares its metadata in the background. You can then ask for a summary, follow-up research, or a focused review. For detailed sports, technique, or timestamped analysis, use Video Analysis or Sports Analysis.

YouTube links and file storage

A YouTube link does not use Pelayar file-storage space or count as the video's gigabytes in your project storage quota. Pelayar stores the link and source metadata rather than a copy of the video file, so you do not need to reserve storage for the full video.

Processing the linked video can still use AI credits, and the request remains subject to the selected workflow's duration, access, and processing limits. If you download the video and upload that copy directly, the uploaded file does use your Pelayar storage and follows normal file-storage limits.

If processing still fails

Try a fresh link, check that the video is not removed or restricted, and verify that it is within the selected workflow's duration limits. If the video is available in YouTube but cannot be embedded, direct upload is the reliable fallback. Contact support with the link, the exact error, and whether the video plays directly on YouTube.
