Understand credits and usage
Credits pay for AI processing, while storage is measured separately in GB. Use Billing & Credits to check the effective balance and plan limits, and Usage and Teams to review activity.

Credits and storage are different limits
Credits measure AI processing. Storage measures the files saved in your Pelayar projects. A request can have enough credits but still need more storage for an uploaded file, or have storage available but not enough credits for the requested analysis.
YouTube links are the exception to file storage: Pelayar stores the link and metadata rather than a copy of the video, so the linked video's gigabytes do not use your storage quota. Processing the link can still use credits. See Add a YouTube video.
What can consume credits
- Agent Chat: model and tool work is recorded as chat usage. Current estimates and the completed charge may appear in the conversation.
- Audio and video: transcription and video workflows commonly use duration-based pricing. Dedicated modes can use different rates or additional processing for deeper analysis.
- Project research and web evidence: longer, evidence-grounded work can use multiple provider calls before the report is complete.
- Documents, images, and spreadsheets: the selected workflow determines whether processing is free or credit-based and which rate applies.
The exact rate and minimum are shown by the selected tool when pricing is available. A preflight estimate is a guide before work starts; the usage record shown after processing is the source to use when checking a completed charge.
Where your available credits come from
- Subscription or plan allowance: your plan supplies a monthly credit balance that refreshes according to the account's billing cycle.
- Purchased, referral, or promotional grants: these appear separately when active and may have their own expiration dates. Pelayar uses active grants closest to expiration before subscription credits.
- Company billing: if you belong to a company with a billing administrator, requests may use the company's effective balance rather than a personal balance.
Check your balance and activity
- Open Billing & Credits to see available credits, plan details, storage limits, active packages, and purchase options available to your account.
- Open Usage and Teams to review recent activity and team context when available.
- In a task or conversation, read the estimate, usage badge, or completed transaction details attached to the result.
- For company accounts, ask the billing administrator to confirm the shared balance and plan.
Before a task starts
Pelayar checks the available credits before credit-based work begins. Uploaded files may also be checked against storage limits. YouTube analysis checks credits but does not require storage for the linked video. If the check fails, the page shows the required amount and available amount so you can choose a smaller request, use a different workflow, or add credits.
If a charge or balance looks wrong
- Refresh the Billing & Credits or Usage and Teams page once and confirm that you are viewing the correct account or company.
- Check whether the item is an estimate, a processing transaction, a completed charge, or an expired grant.
- Compare the task's duration, selected mode, number of files, and any dedicated analysis options with the usage detail.
- Do not repeatedly submit the same request while the first one is still processing.
- Contact Pelayar support with the conversation or project reference, approximate time, and usage details. Never include passwords, API keys, or payment credentials.
